The new Siri AI has what Apple calls "personal context understanding". Once you install iOS 27, you may notice a notification in the Settings app about "Optimize Search and Siri." This means your device is learning everything about you, from emails to messages. The process takes a while to complete (it will run faster when your phone is locked, charging and on Wi-Fi), but it's essential for Siri AI to work. With this knowledge about what's on your phone, Siri becomes much more powerful and smart.

Siri AI requires iOS 27 or iPadOS 27, so your first order of business is to check for pending software updates to make sure you're on the latest version. Open the Settings app and navigate to General Software Update to check, then install as needed. Once that's done, head back into Settings and tap Siri Try Siri AI (Beta). If you don't see the option, try changing your language to English (United States) within the same Siri menu if it's not already. Be sure you have United Stated selected under Settings General Language & Region Region, as well.

As the most popular AI bot, it's no surprise that ChatGPT is CarPlay-ready. If you already have it on your iPhone, you'll find it on your CarPlay Home Screen. If you don't have it yet, download ChatGPT for free from the App Store (the same goes for the other apps discussed). With your iPhone connected to your car, tap the ChatGPT icon on CarPlay and select New Voice Chat. Then speak naturally when the app indicates it's listening.
